New and Different for 2011

year2011 First up, I want to thank everyone for their support for Pixel Theme Studio which is helping this site to continuously grow in popularity. With feedback I receive from members (and visitors), I've been making ongoing improvements to the site and its features over the last month. With 2011 approaching, there will be a few more changes for Pixel Theme Studio which will solidfy the direction that will benefit the end-user even more. I won't go into everything I have planned quite yet but I will give some hints along with some important information that everyone should be aware of before 2011 arrives...

Joomla, WordPress, and Movable Type 5.0

When I first started Pixel Theme Studio, the goal was to provide themes for not just Joomla, but also for WordPress and Movable Type 5.0 (anyone remember MT?). Designing for all three platforms turned out to be very time consuming so the decision to drop MT themes resulted in just Joomla and Wordpress. A Strange thing though developed over time where WordPress interests took over and to this day, my site traffic and members have become 90% WordPress based, 5% Joomla users, and 5% WordPress and Joomla users. Because of this, it doesn't make sense to continue Joomla at PTS...but not to fear Joomla users!

Joomla Templates & Joomla Members

A hard decision but it had to be done...the bad news is that by December 31st, 2010, all Joomla will be phased out of Pixel Theme Studio and WordPress will be the only platform for this web site. However, for anyone who currently has an "active membership" that takes you into 2011, you will not lose out because I actually have a new project in the works that is going to be completely dedicated to Joomla (no WordPress). So, if you have an active membership and you are a Joomla user, you will still have access to Joomla templates, both current and new until your membership expires. However, once your membership ends, you will have the opportunity to continue with the new web site which will offer all new templates, tutorials, and of course, support!

Joomla Schedule

With a couple months left of the year, here is what I am doing for Joomla members:

The new Visionary theme will have a Joomla version
The new Evening Shade theme will have a Joomla version
I am also planning to redesign the Pixel Media Blogger (unconfirmed at this moment)
I am currently working on a new theme which I am planning for Joomla (as well as WordPress)

Starting January 1st, 2011, all new Joomla templates I make will be available on the new site and anyone who uses Joomla and has an active membership at Pixel Theme Studio, will have access to those templates.

New Affiliate Program

At this time, I am working on the setup of a new affiliate program for Pixel Theme Studio, which if all goes well over the next few days, expect this to be available to everyone within November. I will be doing some beta testing to make sure it's compatible with the membership payment system that Pixel Theme Studio uses.

The site has been sold and we are in the middle of the transition right now. The previous owner is still pondering what his next venture will be. He may or may not launch a new Joomla site. If he does launch a Joomla site it will be a separate business from Pixel Theme Studio.
